Feedback op het concept

Hier kan je de beschrijving van ons concept Dreamcatcher vinden. We willen jou graag om feedback vragen. Wat vind je van deze beschrijving? Maakt het duidelijk wat het inhoud of blijft het nog wazig? Het is een concept beschrijving en staat in dit geval nog los van middelen (zoals deze blog). Wat roept het moodboard bij je op? Welke woorden of gevoelens komen er bij je naar boven als je het moodboard ziet? Help ons verder door feedback te geven, alle feedback is welkom! 

Conceptbeschrijving

Het hart - Waar gelooft Dreamcatcher in? Wat is onze overtuiging? Waarom?

Passie kan energie, zingeving en een doel geven. Waar raak je geïnspireerd door? Waarom is dit jou passie? Wat is je droom?

Dreamcatcher vangt dromen en houd alle nachtmerries buiten de deur. Dromen die zijn ontstaan vanuit een passie voor iets. Dromen van mensen die zijn geïnspireerd. Deze juweeltjes worden door de Dreamcatcher verzameld.

Tegelijkertijd is Dreamcatcher ook een hulpmiddel in de zoektocht naar een passie. Er zijn mensen die nog niet weten wat hun passie is en zoekende zijn. Door te lezen hoe iemand over passie denkt kan dit ook weer inspirerend zijn voor een ander. Door kleine opdrachtjes tussendoor te doen zoals schilderen, foto’s, filmen, etc. komen er verschillende onderwerpen aan bod.

Een droom, een passie of een inspiratiebron kan niet fout zijn. Een foto, een tekening, een schilderij kan niet fout zijn. Al deze dingen zijn persoonlijk en vormen het begin. Het beginnen van iets is juist het moeilijkste wat er is. Daarom vormt Dreamcatcher een gebied waar fouten gemaakt mogen worden en er ruimte is voor opbouwende feedback. Het is een gebied waar je mag beginnen met iets.

De identiteit – Wat voel ik, wat ervaar ik?

Dreamcatcher staat open voor jouw verhaal. Dreamcatcher is nieuwsgierig en enthousiast over wat jij te vertellen hebt. Wij hebben de volgende kernwaarden voor bij ons concept uitgekozen: 

+ Overbrengen
Het overbrengen / het vertalen van een verhaal in beeld en tekst.

+ Ontdekken

Op ontdekking uitgaan, het ontdekken van passies.

+ Passie

De zingeving van iemands leven. Het doel in iemands leven.

+ Dromen

Een droom die iemand ooit een keer wil waarmaken.

+ Inspiratie
De drijfveer, de kracht achter iemand zijn passie.

Het doel – Wat laat het concept Dreamcatcher mij doen? Welk doel willen wij behalen?

Dreamcatcher laat mensen hun verhaal vertellen. Het doel daarmee is om mensen die zoekende zijn naar hun passie of inspiratie zoeken te inspireren.

Het is een hulpmiddel voor mensen die zoekende zijn. Een veilige omgeving voor mensen om te ontdekken wat zij graag willen doen.

De vorm – Wat zie ik als ik Dreamcatcher zie? Als je Dreamcatcher ziet dan zie je een verzameling van verhalen en illustraties, maar ook foto's of schilderijtjes. Deze verzameling staat open voor opbouwende feedback.

Waarom?

Wij willen aan dit project werken omdat dit ons de ruimte geeft om zelf te ontdekken wat onze passies zijn. We kunnen opdrachten koppelen aan een verhaal van iemand of een inspiratiebron. Zo kunnen we bezig gaan met de dingen die wij leuk of interessant vinden.  Door opdrachten te doen kunnen we ook weer groeien. Deze opdrachten kunnen we dan weer delen op onze blog. Hierdoor kunnen wij anderen ook weer inspireren. Het is een platform waar een wisselwerking plaatst vind. Anderen helpen ons op weg en wij kunnen mensen die zoekende zijn ook weer verder helpen.

Interview with Ruby Taylor

While reading the Flow magazine we came across some cool illustrations. We looked up the illustrator and saw Ruby Taylor her website. We saw her work and wondered what it would be like to be an illustrator. How does she think about passion and inspiration? So we decided to email her some questions! If you never try, you never know. And now we know! Are you curious yet? Here you can read all about her work as an illustrator and how she thinks about passion, dreams and inspiration.

My work as an illustrator

I live in London and I work freelance from home. I also have a part- time job as a studio assistant. My Illustration work has a strong focus on colour and I like to use limited or muted colour palettes. I love hand-drawn type and playful little characters. At the moment I really enjoy making patterns, I like that you can piece together different elements which then form a narrative, a feeling or an environment.

Most of my work is done digitally but I always start by sketching and then I paint all the shapes that make up each image.

- On which project are you working right now?

At the moment I am working on a postcard for a magazine. They are giving away a set of A-Z alphabet cards as a free gift to their readers. It’s a really nice magazine called Flow! My letter is N, I am drawing a Numbat which is a cute little animal from Australia. It’s very rare!

- What steps do you find in the process of making an illustration? What do you find difficult and what do you find easy to do?

It really varies, I think the hardest thing is when I try to work and I’m not in the mood. It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes I just don’t feel creative at all, I will sit down to work and I know that its going to be a struggle to make anything I’m happy with. But then I get other days where I feel super creative and I have a really successful day and get loads of great stuff done.

When I became an illustrator 

I always loved to draw so choosing an Illustration degree seemed like a natural choice for me, but when I chose the degree I wasn’t necessarily thinking I would make a career out of it, I just wanted to study something I loved. When I graduated I gradually started getting illustration work and it kind of just happened. I love it though; I wouldn’t want to do anything else!

- Would you consider your work, your passion?

Definitely! I really enjoy it and its so satisfying seeing my work in print. I think about illustration all the time, what I want to paint, who/what I would like to make work for, little things I want to create... I’m probably quite boring!

- Our project is about understanding the meaning of passion. How would you describe the meaning of passion? What is it worth?

That’s tricky! I think passion is probably something that you love and feel compelled to do, almost in a way that you can’t control. It’s something that you would make sacrifices to do.

Inspiration, heroes and dreams

I love looking at vintage packaging and old printed ephemera, the colours are amazing and the designs are so beautiful! I have a book called Collecting Printed Ephemera, which is full of collections of printed-paper and packaging, I often look through it if I need to be inspired.

Its harder to say who my heroes are as love the work of so many different illustrators, but if I had to name some I would say Leonard Weisgard and Alain Gree, they make amazing children’s book illustrations. But there are loads of other people’s work I love!

- How would you describe the meaning of inspiration?

I think inspiration influences you and makes you want to go a do something, it gives you a starting point from which you can build on and make your own.

- Do you have dreams? Which dreams would you like to fulfil?

I would really like to make my own products, possibly home ware or stationary that feature my illustrations and patterns. And maybe have a small company or brand that produces beautiful things! I would love to fulfil this!

- How would you describe the meaning of dreams?

I think dreams are fantasies, some are ones that you can make into realities, like doing your dream job or buying a home. Others you can’t... Another one of my dreams is going back in time to the late 70s and being in a punk band... but I’m pretty sure that’s never going to happen.

- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I would love to be making enough money from full-time illustration to support myself - I’m hoping that will happen in 5 years time!

Don’t be scared to keep trying things out, the only way you will find out if you like, or don’t like, something is if you give it a go. And it doesn’t matter if you realise you don’t like it, there are loads more things you can try!

- What do you recommend to do if you want to find your passion?

Like I said, keep trying stuff out!

Inspiratie

Kijk voor meer inspiratie op onze Pinterest. Aan de rechterkant kan je onze 'board' zien met de titel 'Ra-ra wat is het?'. Aan jou dus de vraag 'Wat is het?'. Wat roept het bij jou naar boven? Laat je inspireren! 

Woorden

Vanavond was ik aan het luisteren naar de radio en ik hoorde een nummer vanwaar de woorden mij steeds weer raken. Het nummer heb ik al eerder gehoord en elke keer als ik het weer hoor word ik eraan herinnerd. Ik word eraan herinnerd dat ik mag spreken. Waarom zou ik bang zijn voor wat ik te zeggen heb? Het nummer zegt mij dat ik er ook mag zijn!

Deze woorden bemoedigen mij. Deze woorden geven mij hoop. Deze woorden dagen mij uit om voor mezelf op te komen. Deze woorden geven mij troost. Deze woorden geven mij het gevoel dat ik niet alleen ben. Deze woorden geven mij het gevoel dat ik wil dansen.

Deze woorden wil ik met je delen.

Passies op de NHL - deel 2

Afgelopen maandag spraken wij Baukje, Geale en Thomas over hun passie. Zowel Baukje als Geale hebben een passie voor hardlopen. De betekenis van hardlopen is voor hun verschillend. Voor Baukje is het hardlopen een moment om je hoofd leeg te maken en je weer op te laden met nieuwe energie. Voor Geale is het hardlopen juist een moment waar hij zijn energie in kwijt kan.
Thomas heeft een passie voor muziek. In zijn vrije tijd speelt hij graag gitaar en ervaart dit als een uitlaatklep.
